I think its funny how everybody squawks about how dangerous gators and snakes are and how they should all be removed or killed. If anyone would actually look at the mortality data for the average American they would see that Big Macs and motorized vechiles are much more dangerous. Yet there are no people crying to Ronald to euthanize all those deadly Big Macs..........it is very interesting how people's perceived risk (based on how something looks) can be so backwards

Call TPWD ASAP. Don't wait on the owner.

I guess we need to feed the gator a Big Mac- that will take care of it. People kill people- not Big Macs or Vehicles

Hahahaha Exactly! People kill people via automobiles and people kill themselves via their own addictions. But I think we all need to be free to kill ourselves via automobiles and Big Macs we just shouldn't judge other things as being "dangerous" simply because they have the ability to be because people are way more dangerous than any animal or object.

Next time you are there, feed it some of those large marsh mellows. They love those things!!!! All gators have a "Sweet Tooth" At least they did at the lake we were at.

This is really no different than a rabid animal, call the game warden and let them deal with it...No one has to kill it, trap and release it, so the dude with the cheeseburger remark can relax...Its a dangerous animal/reptile in an area where it "could" harm someone in the community...Let the proper authorities deal with it so no one gets hurt, including the gator!
Some of you boys can get pretty spun up over something that is really very simple...We might need to check yalls closet for a skirt!
RELAX!

They make great boots. But in all fairness contact the TPWD they can use it to teach folks about them. BTW how did you get the crappie out and your bait? Those gators clamp down on the movement. Should have recorded that now that would have been cool to see. How close did you get to it too?

I was still pulling on the line when she tried to adjust the fish to swallow it and it pulled out. I stayed about 5 feet away from it on a steep bank. Now my neighbor got like 2 feet from it to take a picture. Of course his biscuits are a little doughy, if you get what I am saying.

Dock Boy:
Coming from Louisiana, you bet I have seen my fair share of gators... in the wild, as well as at habitats, zoos, etc.
This guy seems WAY too comfortable being near humans. If he doesn't eventually clamp down on somebody's little boy or girl, then it could and will be their dog or cat.
I had a gator in Natchitoches that was located on Cane River Lake, just about 3/4 mile from my back door. The first time I saw him, he was up in tall grass on the waters edge. I was less than 20 yards from him in my boat. These guys move FAST on water, but almost as fast on land. I would hate to think I was going to outrun one of them. (I'm 57.)
This gator is a danger, because you don't know WHO will use this private pond. My folks had a private pond on farm acreage, we could NOT keep strangers out, no matter how hard we tried.
