Which is better for chumming,milo or wheat. If anybody wants to add their two cents for making it ripe thanx...

either one will work just fine

I use feeder corn soured for a couple of weeks. $6 at academy.

if you can find wheat it is great but milo works almost as well....not much wheat here in East Texas....

Thanx for all ya'lls help. I have one more question. after its ready and I have a bunch left, can i leave it in the bucket without water and close the lid. This is after all of the water is gone and its the finished product or do you always have to keep water in it...

keep enough water in it to keep moist, i usually leave about 1/2 inch on top

Wheat is more expensive you can find it easily at Dairy's and some of them will sell you some. You can find it at Feed Stores also but not all. Tractor Supply might be a good place to look. I use Milo but prefer Wheat when i can get it. A friend of mine and myself bought 5,000lbs not to long ago but he uses his for commercial use or guiding and goes thru alot more than us normal users lol. Wheat if you can and maise if not.

i use hen scratch......works good, cheap, and sours up pretty quick!
