Left dock at 4 PM and headed to dam area. Found fish on 2nd spot checked (I call it Dam Ridge) in 19 ft water. Caught several legal and short hybrids and only a few white bass. Left there and checked ridge by the pole and hump at east end of dam and nothing. Then went to Crappie Island Flats and searched til I found concentration of fish. Anchored down there and fished til 7:20. Caught several more legal hybrid and sandies. Ended up with 38: 11 legal hybrids to 24 inches, 4 short hybrids, 22 sandies to 16 inches and a catfish. Also had 4 good hybrids pull off before boating. All fish caught on Mepps #4 silver.

Not many boats out this PM - enjoyed the solitude.

there is a ramp at Star-Harbor, but it isn't free.
Thats the closest to the dam I know of.

Take 287 S to I-45 to Corsicana, pick up Hwy 31 east to Malakoff then 198 N to FM 3062 (left turn off 198) and follow 3062 to Star Harbor

Thanks alot. Any tips to fishing this lake? I have been reading alot and this lake seems real nice. I go to Joe Pool and the sand bass are not biting real good and they are small.

Gonzz, we're catching a lot of sand bass on points, humps and drop-offs working slabs, soft plastics and inline spiners along the bottom after we locate the fish using our depth finders. How do you normally go about catching them at Joe Pool?

Humps on Joe Pool. The fishing is crazy there. They have lockjaw..I catch some but not as many as I want. Also want to try to catch some hybrids..

Don't come to CC. No one is going there any more. It's too crowded and fish are difficult to boat because they are too big.

Afterall, most of the posters only caught 10 legal hybrids or more.

If I can get more than 10 keeper sand bass I will be happy..lol.. Thanks for all the info.

Nice report Dennis. I bet you guys are glad the Holiday is over cause that lake was like the Gulf/Six Flags on Sunday. Glad to see the Hybrids and Sandies kicking butt still.
