The first 100 teams to register with the UNITED WAY of Hood County will compete for a brand new SKEETER SX190 BASS BOAT with 150 Yamaha ProV on June 18th! This is a big bass only event with 6 hourly paybacks of $1,000. Largest Bass wins the boat provided by Fun-n-Sun Boat Sales with a retail value of $31,800. Entry is a $1,000 tax deductible donation and limited to only 100 teams- first come, first serve. We will be handling the actual weigh in for the charity but ALL REGISTRATION and CORRESPONDENCE will be handled by the United Way staff at 817-319-1067 or email at: uwhc@hcnews.com

This will be on a Friday after the lake has been closed to boaters all week and will be open that day exclusively for the donors. You can fish up to three people in the boat to help ease the cost or fish alone and try to win it by yourself. Whatever the case, just please remember that the United Way is a great organization that works with tireless volunteers and also that this is a great cause.

I'm with ya on that. I know its a great cause but dang a $1000. Don't think I'll be going to this one unless one of the fine companys on TFF would like to sponsor me and my boat.

Monte and I will be guest at a dinner for past United Way donors tonight at the Squaw creek pavillion. We were asked by the UW board to explain to their faithful donors how a Big Bass tournament works and such. I understand there will be lots of people there so we should see some of the teams sign up to get to fish for a boat, when they normally get nothing more than the tax credit and a big "thank you" for their much appreciated donations.
If you havent gotten your name on the list at the United Way phone number, I encourage you to do so quickly.

The United Way of Hood Co. has listened to the anglers concerns of the extremely hot water and air temps for a late June tournament, and voted to post pone the Skeeter boat giveaway to Friday, November 19th in order to have better fishing conditions. With only 28 teams committed and many more pushing for the cooler temperature conditions, Fun-n-Sun supports their decision to do this to help serve the real purpose of what the United Way is all about and that is to raise funds for fighting teenage drug abuse in the county and other struggles in the community. In order to make this a success, this will also allow plenty of time for the United Way volunteers to exicute some of the extra things they want to do for the tournament donors to make it an even more joyable experience on Nov.19th.
We hope everyone understands and look forward to seeing you then. Those who have committed will stay on the list and have their spot held, and anyone wanting a refund can contact the United Way office.
