Nothing consistent for bass. Try stablewood farms pond off 90/410. Caught 1 bass there in 5 trips total.

I've heard Converse City Park and Live Oak City Park are good for bass (Converse is supposedly better). I have zero experience at both, but I plan on changing that in the near future.

choke canyon lake is premier lake for bass. you cant go wrong there. You can try medina river too. Any spot i suppose. Ive caught cats out of medina. try local ponds if you wanna get your kicks.

Went by Converse City Park for the first time today.

Caught my first fish ever off of a plastic worm (Senko)
Caught another bass off of a med diving crankbait. Lost it on the very next cast unfortunately.
Both we're about 11"

Was only there for an hour after work, I'm pretty sure topwaters would be awesome there, fish were jumping all around, but I didn't take any with me.

Was that at Converse North park or the little ponds hidden behind the main city park?

I had a little luck at Converse North and along the shoreline by the baseball fields at Live Oak park. I used little rattlin rapalas and yellow and white spinnerbaits. Never tried senkos or soft plastics but I'm not real experienced in bass fishing.

Hey tony, did you fish the Medina by Castroville park or where?
I am on the NE side in Selma so don't go that way too often.

I fish the medina river down off highway 16. The complete opposite side of where you are USMC. I will be at Braunig tomorrow on the yak with some crawfish, shad, chicken liver, and shrimp and see what happens.

Good luck and be careful. It will be pretty full I'm sure. I usually fish Cally or Braunig when I go south, but I always like to try new spots.

That's the google map link.

I found one of the many reed beds and just fished about 2 or 3 feet from it. I'm thinkin' about throwing some live bait out there too.

This place looks great on Google.
What if I made a yahoo group or email list for us small water fishers.
A nice database to contact another?

That sounds cool. I'd sign up. And I'm in SA too.

Just for SA area. I'm thinking a bank / wade / yak hook up.
Everything within the 4 lakes for trips, and maybe past them for outings

I live on the northeast side and would definitely be interested in something like this. The more people you know the better. I am not real outgoing and don't bother people in person. I am too stubborn for my own good sometimes but will ask the heck out of questions on here and share my limited successes. Would be nice to have someone to fish with once in a while when the few people I know around here(maybe 5 or so) aren't available. I'm still learning the area and getting a canoe this week. Kayaks are too rough on my back and the little pontoon I had crapped the bed.
