just got back from fishing the BFL All American on Lake DeGray arkansas, and on DeGray you cannot keep a largemouth between 13"-16", well on the measuring board in the Ranger that FLW supplied i had one that barely missed the 13" mark but when i got to weigh in it bumped the 13" mark on their board, so i lost the fish and got a big penalty, after weigh in i showed the tournament directors that the fish was good on the board in the boat, a couple of them tried to get them to let me weigh the fish but it didn't happen, the official call was that the boards in the boat were not official FLW boards they are just the boards that came in the boats that were supplied for us

SO THE LESSON IS ALWAYS CARRY THE OFFICIAL MEASURING BOARD FOR THE TRAIL, ALL BOARDS MEASURE DIFFERENT

That stinks, I never did understand about boards measuring different, I thought 14 inches is 14 inches, if a board is bent I can see where they would be different.

yea that doesn't make much sense to me either...they should make one board the standard for all.

any tourney angler should know which board is used as many are slightly different. there are no standards for measuring boards.

I could understand it if it was your own measuring board, but since they supplied it in the boat you fished sounds like you got a raw deal IMO.

at the lake they checked if they were dead or alive and sent us to town to weigh in at the convention center, I didn't even think about a courtesy board at the time, i figured the ranger boards would measure the same as their boards, it is kinda crazy that board to board is a little different. i learned a good lesson

I learned the same lesson two years ago on Fork. Now I always take my board and check it with the tourney directors board before i go fish. This way there is no dought in my mind.

Only one of the boards could be correct. Which one? I think that is the important question. Are you saying an inch for the FLW is different then the rest of the Country? When did an inch become something else.
