Fish early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Great time of year to do some night fishing.

Fish the deepest grass you can find. If no grass then drive and find the fish on the deep drops and fish for them.

Is a black and blue jig still a good color for this time of year?

If you are going to throw a jig throw a green pumpkin color football jig targeting sharp ledges and ridges off of main lake points and humps. Black/Blue still might work, but I've seen better success on the green pumpkin jig. Other than that throw a big deep diving crank bait like a DD-22 or Carolina rig on the humps and main lake points surrounded by deep water (25-45 feet). Definitely try and find grass if possible, but if not no big deal. The shad will get in the main lake creek channels and the bass will chase them up on to the humps and points to feed.

As a general rule, on cloudy windy days fish shallow in 2-6 foot deep with white spinnerbaits or weightless worms around grass in main lake pockets around good grass growth. On sunny days look to find fish deeper in 15-30 foot on big main lake points, ledges, humps, and roadbeds. Cast a carolina rig ringfry in watermelon red, or drag a 3/4 oz brown football head jig around schools of bass. These deep fish will tell you they are there and feeding pretty quickly. Dont waste too much time on one area if they arent biting.
