I have never caught a flathead and this year I think I am gona try to get me one. I manly fish at EM but I dont even know if they are in there, should I try a diffrent lake? Can I catch them from the bank or do I need a boat? Is there anything really diffrent bout catching flatheads?

If it walks I can hunt it, if it swims I can catch it.
If I dont, I'm havin a bad day.

Use live perch. You can catch them from boat or bank.

Caught a 25 # flat on trotline at EML. a couple of years ago, there are a lot of big blues in that lake. The flats should be in full blown spoaning mode from now till the end of June.

Pretty much all lakes in Texas have flatheads. Even the small lakes and rivers hold some monsters.
Use live bluegill or polliwog (mudcat, bullhead) on a Carolina rigwith short leader. Put out lots of rods have a comfortable chair and wait the fish out.

They are in there and they are on the feed. I pulled up one around 50 and another probably went 35 (just guesstimates)in my cast net a few days ago when catching bait in a place I would never have expected to catch them. Caught them both one right after each other.

The guys running lines are catching them now too.

Just remember when flathead fishing it is a game of patience.

Slip sinker rig and live perch, fished tightline with the bait clicker on.

if I can break free this weekend my boy and I are gonna sneak out there and see if we can snuggle up to one or two.
