I joined earlier this week and have been browsing through posts. Already picked up a lot of useful tips. I just starting fishing for crappie last summer - still trying to figure it out. Great stuff on here. I have booked a guided trip for next month, hope to learn more, especially how to find 'em! I live in SW Fort Worth and have been fishin Benbrook and Arlington. So, I am very interested in info about those two lakes. Will probably try some others this summer.

welcome to the forum RM. You're definately in the right place for C.F.I.O. (Crappie Fishing Info overload). I don't know anything about the DFW lakes but there's a bunch of guy's on here that do & as you've already seen, we're most all willing to share. Good luck to you.

welcome aboard

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

getting a guide is a great way to get a kick start on catching these fish. A great guide, and friend of mine, in your area is Scott Solice. http://www.onthespotwithscott.com/
Good luck and take your camera along. Show us your pics.

If I were on Arlington today, I'd look for brush piles in 8-15 feet. There's some docks that can hold good numbers of fish, too, but the couple of times I've fished them this year they didn't produce like in the past.

Unless you go real early, this weekend in particular, you can strike the docks off your "to-do" list. Skiers will be rolling right by almost all of them.
