Is there anyone that can give me a more accurate update of the Whites at LBJ than what I can get off of the TX Parks and Wildlife fishing reports? There is a group of us headed up there for the weekend of Feb. 24th and I was wondering if, because of the unseasonably warm weather we are having,the whites have started moving up the Colorado neck of the lake yet.

is there a good place to fish for whites around the marble falls area?

Trigger Mickey - The whites aren't in any hurry this year. The run on LBJ won't be early. I am getting reports of whites in the Llano and Colorado arms of LBJ, but the fishermen are being cagey about baits and locations. I graphed some medium sized schools holding near the bottom. All the schools were within a mile of the confluence.

the kingsland slab can be great (just west of kingsland off 1431). the whites run up there a little later than a lot of other central texas areas... or maybe the run just last longer. after all the whites have left the yegua, you can wade around downriver of the slab and catch a good mess of whites. it reference to kbarnes, the slab is on the llano river.

It is no longer legal to drive down the slab. You have to walk from the highway.

walk down from the highway???? no way! how far is that? i guess i will have to stop packing like a woman.

I think a hovercraft would be legal. I'd only driven down to the lake twice, but I remember it being further than I'd want to walk through the sand.

The reference to "the slab" is the low water crossing on 3404 where it crosses the Llano River. You can park near the bridge and walk or wade up or down stream. You can no longer drive in the stream bed. If you choose to fish this area, please remember that all the land on both sides of the river is private property. Stay in the river bed and avoid trespassing.

Squirrel_nut is correct. The white bass run on the Llano is one of the last runs to start in the Highland Lakes area.
