We're vacationing on Lake Ouachita the last full week of June. This is the first time I've been there, does anyone have any tips for striper fishing and/or crappie fishing this lake?
I may invest in a guide for a day - any recommendations ??

GREAT LAKE!! I haven't fished it in June in many years, but got out there a number of times last fall. One guy I've fished with, and would again any day, is John T. Hall. Been on that lake for a LONG time, and held the state record from there for a while. Over 53 pounds! Here's his website: http://www.fishing-boating.com/trophy-striper/ mark www.texomasportfishing.com

Lake Ouachita is a great lake to vacation at. Beautiful scenery, crystal clear water, and plenty of things to do. Scuba diving, fishing, hiking, cliff jumping, you name it.

Thanks for the responses - I'll check on those guides. I've already been to one of their sites - man they've caught some huge stripers there. I'll post how we did when I get back.

John T Hall is my recommendation also. I visit him a couple of times a year. He is a lot of fun to fish with.

I have used 2 guides with my favorite also being John T. Hall also. Fishing was tough but he worked real hard, good attitude, and we put alot of lines in the water.

We fished there a couple of years ago and the bream bite really well right off bottom. We were catching the big ones that you could fillet. We fished with crickets in about 20 ft of water. Some good places too are where you can see the vegetation under water about 10 ft. down and then fish the drop off where you can see it drop. Every day we caught a bunch of them.
