Hey Fellas,
So I finally did it, all registered and ready for action! jkb1314 and the boys have been asking me to sign up, really don't know why I didn't sooner!
Thanks Bob Holmes for the nice comment on my boat in your last posting, we really do enjoy it.
Thanks jkb for the nice comment on your last posting; it was a great time we had on RC wednesday, and your son is an awesome little fisherman in training.
Gonna be heading back to RC this week at least a couple of days, Hope that the sandies are still heading into the summer pattern after the rains we the had the last couple of days? Also wonder how the Hybrid bite is doing?

After the rain today, I got on RC about 3 and the water temp was down to 74 from 79 last Tues. and the Whites were in small groups surfacing occasionally and up a very short time. We managed to catch 5 keepers and about 20 throw backs casting at surfacers and trolling hellpet on 309 flats and at Pelican Island until 7. I guess we need some more sun and heat.

I was out Friday evening on the flats. We didn't catch any until sundown. Only eight magnum fish and several dinks. We were slow rolling blue/chrome 'traps.

I went out Sat. a.m. and the only fish we caught were at the mouth of the cove to the 309 flats. They were small, so we went looking and found nothing. We saw no birds, no boats rafted up, and no surfacing. It was a beautiful day but the fish were not interested. We did see some boats rafted up at the 287 flats as we were headed home around 1:30. I didn't care to relaunch to go after them. Plus my 10 year old fishing buddy was sick. So, we came home.

Sounds like the rain and cooler water may have temporarily knocked them off of the shallows on the flat and elsewhere, probably to humps in 25 to 35 ft of water, suppose to have a warming trend this week and sun today all day so the wheather channel says, bet tomorrow and the rest of the week will be better.
I'm going tomorrow regardless and I'll post when I get back.
Birdeye, I hope your fishin buddy is doing better today!

We fished Saturday from 9:30am to 3:00pm between Pelican Isle and the Hwy 287 bridge. We trolled hell/pets and joined a couple of boat shows slabbing and wound up catching more than we could count. There were a couple of hours there where these big magnum sandies would surface just long enough to catch 4 or 5. Then they would go down and come back up just out of reach (Which may have been caused by this guy continually trolling right thru the middle of them). Thank goodness sandies aren't as spooky as stripers seem to be. I got a new (to me) motor on my boat. Check it out at my site. ------------------ http://users.myexcel.com/metromonte/

When life throws lemons at ya, sometimes you just have to make LEMONADE. Man what a day. The wind was a royal beast. It must have been gusting to 25 to 30. We got a little bit of a late start; got on the water about 8:00. The weather channel said wind from the south at 10 to 15. It wasn't from the south. WEST!!!!! In my totally uneducated opinion, the WORST direction the wind could come from. Pelican Island and the 309 flats were a wash, literally,,,,,the breakers on the levy looked like the surf at the gulf. We worked our way over to the west end of the levy/dam to wind sock point and trolled around there to try to salvage what we thought might be a wash of a morning. About 9:30 we made ourselves a little lemonade. I marked some fish on the flasher in the dash so I dropped the trolling motor to have access to my good graph. We caught fish fairly steady til about 11:00. We had some pretty good luck (for the day) with 13 magnum whites and a couple of nice hybrids off of a hump about 150 yards to the south east of wind sock point toward the dam in about 30 feet of water. We we fishing with the old tried and true slab spoon. Although I didn't mind the wind and waves so much, let's just say it wasn't the best day for my two favorate fishing buddies: my wife and 10 year old daughter, who on a calm day can hold their own with the best of us catching whites. All and all a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work,,,, can I get a Herrumph!!!
