Does anyone know if you are fishing ponds inside the city limits of say Addison, Richardson, Plano, Dallas, ect...can a Police Officer of those cities ask to see your fishing license and give you a ticket for not having a license? Or does it have to be a game warden to issue a ticket?

If it is public yes, but if its private and the owner calls the police or has informed the police in the past, then I believe yes. The latter case could be more of a serious issue regarding trespassing. Becareful, always have your licenses, make sure you have the proper documentations to show law enforcement. If its a HOA, then they will usually warn you first, then call the police. Dont argue with the police. I wouldn't think answering that call would be one of their favorites. Wasting their time. One thing you need to remember if fishing a private pond without permission, is that some owners can and have spent a lot of money managing their pond/s. Stocking fish, controlling vegetation, etc... So they might be a little fussy on who catches their fish.
game wardens are police officers and police officers are game wardens. Both enforce the laws of the state.

No license is required to fish private waters. However, only a jerk poaches.

Thanks guys. Yeah I was fishing a pond in a Richardson, Texas park last weekend. I have a fishing license. But when I saw a policeman drive by I just was curious.

IT GOES THE SAME WAY ON THE LAKE WHEN YOU HAVE LEWISVILLE PD PATROLING THE WATERS IN A BOAT....THEY CAN ENFORCE THE LAWS JUST LIKE GAME WARDEN
