I am thinking about going to Texoma on Saturday. Any idea on where the fish are biting and where I can catch some shad. I usually just catch some shad at the marinas. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

coalhoop---The best place I have found to get shad is at Walnut Creek Marina. It is in Big Mineral, south of Cedar Mills on the west side of Big Mineral.I fish Texoma a lot and I have always caught a lot of shad there. When you go into Big Mineral,Walnut Creek is about half way down. You have to go to the back of the creek to get to the marina. When you get to the marina stay to the right,go pass the big boats and throw your net between the stalls where the smaller boats are.Be careful if you throw inside a stall,a lot of them have floation devices and you will hang up,I have a couple of nets there now.I have had the best luck all the way at the back, there is a walkway there.Cedar Mills Resort is also good, but there you throw in the stalls where the big boats are.Look for stripers 300-400 yards out from the mouth of Big Mineral along the edge of the river. Also,at the mouth of Walnut Creek there is an island on the south side(not the island in the middle of Big Mineral),at day light or 1 hour before sunset you will have no trouble getting a limit of stripers.Stay 200yds.from the island.

I have a 204 Champion w/ a 200 Mercury. I am not going if the wind is blowing. I will post my results thanks for the tips. They are very much appreciated. What rig have you had the most success with. I have always used a three-way swivel with the weight off the bottom swivel and the shad coming off the side, but I have some friends that swear by some kind of in-line rig.

I use a "carolina" type rig like you would use on a bass. 3/4 oz egg sinker, larger if the wind is up. 3' leader and hook the shad through the eyes.
