I fished there on May 8th, 15th and 17th. Caught 7 on the 8th with a boat full of kids, everyone caught one. Caught 12 on the 15th with just me and the honey... and 2 on the 17th. All under 3lbs. Not bad, but not good. Big Marv's cheese baits is what they bit on. I saw others with 30-40 in their cooler within hours. So, its not bad right now.

try the dead tree point or the 1st point at braunig. if i want to take catfish home ill fish braunig w small tilapia , perch , or them little chubby fish. catfish tend to be a little heavier at braunig.

I went this morning, and fished from around 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and put 11 cats in the boat that were a little better than your average size Calaveras cats, with one almost three pounds. They were all caught along the rocks from the wall toward the power plant using cut shad under a cork.
Not fast action but enough to keep your interest.
Also saw hybrids breaking on the surface chasing shad, but didn't have the right lures to chase after them.

I was at Cali this morning too. Lake was really pretty. I fished the deeper water (18 to 30 Ft) looking for reds & stripers. Ended up with 4 nice stripers & 1 small red. Not a single cat..they have got to be in shallow water now. Shad were easy to catch, but perch were scarce. (redfish candy). Slow fishing, but relaxing. Nice not having a 20 knot wind to fight ! You are right roger about the perch. I took my fly rod along and thought for sure I'd catch some palm sized bream along the shoreline because I'd caught them in the past when they took my cut shad while fishing for cats, but I didn't catch a single one and I tried.
The cats were along the rocks but out away from the bank a ways, but I was still fishing about 2' deep under a cork.
It was a perfect morning, just wish I could have stayed a little bit longer, but after I got through cleaning the fish it was already getting pretty hot.
