I think they( the powers that be) should OUTLAW bank fishing!!! then instead of wasting time and scarce $$ and adding miles to my all ready high milage pickup I could stay home and do something WAY more productive like watching paint dry!!!!

Fished from 8:30 pm to 5 am (Sat night 22nd) at 3 different areas on the Brazos( Chisolm Trail Park and Nolan River Park) with live perch, cut perch with Dead Red and Sudden Impact to get skunked. Had one good hit that peeled line about 2 am but missed it as I was tying up another line.

before you get too discouraged, you should make a trip to a real good catfishing lake like tawakoni, lavon, calaveras, etc....... in my experience, the rivers are much more hit-n-miss than the lakes that have high populations of catfish! just my .02

I travel 240 miles round trip to hit the brazos from where i live....most trips end up costing me 150-200 bucks after i load up on beer/bait whatever else i need...its expensive but well worth it.

Yeah I know- I need to head to a good lake- but they're all 2-3 hrs away and being laid-off on the unemployment it's hard to afford. just not much good bank fishing close to S. ft. worth/Burleson area. I say I'm not gonna fish till I can head to a good lake and have a fishing buddy who wants to go- then after 4-5 days get an itching to go fishing and head down to somewhere close and catch a few dinks or get skunked- lol.

Have you tried Aquilla? My father's family is from Hillsboro and I grew up fishing Whitney but we switched to Aquilla as soon as it opened up back in the 80's and rarely went to Whitney much any more. We caught some pretty good cats there on jugs and trotlines and the occasional fish when drowning minnows for crappie.

ok so I'm gonna try bank fishing ONE more time(ya right)- my buddy called a guy we know with 10 acre private lake and we're gonna try catfishing (bankfishing still) it tomorrow afternoon. If I can't catch some decent catfishes in a private pond then I give up!! it'll either be a fish fry this weekend or a garage sale with some rods/reels real cheap!!!

Well private lake trip SUCKED- no cats but plenty of Bass- would have been a great bass fishin trip if'n we had taken any bass gear/tackle- between the three of us we caught 7 bass (2-5 lbs) on Shrimp!! Had we some bass tackle bet we could of caught a dozen each. Somehow hooking a 3 lb bass on a medium/heavy catfish rod just ain't that fun.
