Has anyone ever tried the Storm wild-eye soft plastics? They look like a very realistic bait fish imitation with either a curl or paddle tail. They have the eye of the hook coming out the top of the bait for vertical jigging.
I got into a school of bass busting shad on top of the water last weekend. After catching a few on a top water I looked for something resembling a shad. I had one of these 3" baits left in my tackle from a friend. I tied it on and it was all over. The bass couldn't resist it. As soon as it hit the water, a few jerks and BAM!
Has anyone tried jigging these things deeper for hybrids or whites? I have a good feeling they would work.

I use the 4" and 6" Wildeyes at Texoma. They are deadly in November and December.
I use mostly the chartreuse/pearl color combinations.
I use the small wildeyes tied to the line upstream of the hell pet combo. You can catch 2 and 3 sandies at a time. 2 on the wildeye and one on the pet.

They work really good for whites. It seems like the usually catch the bigger fish in the school. Also great for the kids as the single hook makes it much easier for them to work with when unhooking fish. I've seen some with a treble hanging out of the belly but have not yet tried them.

I use the 3" versions while fishing docks on CC at night. They produce very well. I have used them in the day, but I like slabs for vertical jigging.

The bigger ones with the trebel hook work well. I have a bit mor confidence in hooking a fish when they hit it from underneath. The lure catches a variety of fish. Today, I caught both smallmouth and stripers on the same lure. All fish were hooked on the bottom trebel.

I just bought a Storm "WildEye Rippin Shad Swim bait" 3pak of 5 inch 'Phantom Pearl'. It has a big hook out of the back top and a treble on the belly. It has a greenish foil holographic.
I hope to try it this week for Hybrids. Thanks for bringing up the topic.

I use them for whites and stripers, and have caught a big largemouth while fishing for whites under the birds. We used them three weeks ago on Texoma and tore the stripers and sandies up! The biggest striper was over 21" and the "one got away" snapped twelve pound test line with the drag singing. I caught a striper on the first cast and a big sandie on the next one. I normally just cast and retrieve them, the action of the lure is excellent.

BTW we use the small chartruese wild eyes (3or4 inches) with the single hook on top.

They are good, I will take a sassy shad in 4 inch over them most of the time, but have had great success downrigging with the storm wildeye in 4 inch version.
I like the little ones of surfacing fish too.

I like them when you get into a school of whites. Like bhking said, they are easy to unhook and you get more fish in the boat than with a treble. They hold up well, I landed 50 good size whites on one lure this summer. Been using the 3-4 inch shad.

When casting for Hybrids, do you rig some kind of weight to the line ahead of the 'WildEye' Shad?
I assume that the internal weight of the 'WildEye'is to light to get down below the Whites to get to the Hybrids.

I have caught yellowfin tuna, tarpon, stripers, snappers , just to name a few on assorted storm lures . Would not feel right leaving the house without them. Just remember to take the plastic off the hook which I didnt . I lost the first several tarpon that struck my lure . I sure was getting fustrated until I realize the plastic was still on hook . sure does make a difference. PS I was fishing at night so I have an excuse.
