Heve not seen or heard any reports on Lake Waco in awhile. Does anyone have any info as to how the crappie are doing?

Went 2 weeks ago and got around 15, that's all we needed though.. We threw back around another 10-15 fish. They are in 10-20' of water on brush piles.
Go put a hurtin' on em!
Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

I have been finding them in that range too, I found a couple of bp's at one of the marinas. Lots of small ones though, maybe this wind will let up soon so I can try the main lake.

Thanks for the replys. I have'nt tried to find them yet but everyone else that I talked to had not had much luck. I'll stay off the lake this weekend for sure being a holiday weekend but I'm looking forward to their summer time pattern. Thanks again,

I've been limiting out every trip in 2-3 hours. I'm fishing brush piles between 13 and 20 feet of water. Minnows or jigs, can't tell one is better than the other. Took out 4 customers Sunday morning and had 100 fish in the boat by noon. Biggest are 15+inches. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Where do you get minnows around Waco? I only know of the places around Speegleville, and they are not what I would call cheap.

On the East side of the lake there is a store I believe called Skinnys. It on the corner of Steinbeck bend road I think. They have minnows there and will give you a few extra. If you fish with minnows that is the best place to buy them around the lake that I know of. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. The stores around Speegleville will only give you the exact dozen count if your lucky, dead ones and all!!!!!!

That's what I have found too. I have gone strictly jigs because of that.
I was getting gas one day and a guy stopped by and said the best place to buy minnows was in willow grove? I have not heard of willow grove but supposedly it is close to the lake, and they supposedly sell minnows cheap. Not sure if I misunderstood this fella, but I would like to know if this place exists!

Not sure about Willow grove. I think I have read that here on the forum some time ago. I'm like you on minnows, switched to jigs only and numbers went up.

There is a store where Valley Mills turns into Lake Shore. They always have them and are relatively cheap.

Any other guides at Lake Waco? I have a few friends that would be willing to take a trip.

I don't do many guided trips. Just enjoy letting kids catch fish. Really don't even need minnows. I've been catching all my fish on one particular jig. The fewer the clouds, the bluer the sky, the better they bite.
