I have a new MG Pro Series 82 lb. During tournament yesterday, TM got stuck in down position. Could not get it to release to come out of water and latch down on bracket. Finally had to remove it completely. I took it to dealer this morning and they said they had one come in on Saturday with same problem. Seems the latching pins move back and forth and get binded up in the housing. They just took a screw driver and wedged in between housing and pin and pried it back in place. I don't think this will be a permanet fix. Has anybody out there had this problem? I would think this is a flaw in the design and MG should somehow find a remedy to this problem. Lost last 2 hours of tournament fishing time due to this.

I did have a similar problem with my MG Ditial Tour, only it would not unlatch so I could put it down... sometimes had to work on the latch pin at the top (back) of the mount with a screw driver to get it to release ... I put silcone spray on it a number of times, basically keeping it "well greased" ... after a month or two the problem went away.
Last Monday, it seems that the control card in my MG Tour digital went out (basically the tm went crazy).... Tuesday I ended up just ordering a new TM (supposedly the same model) from BassPro and getting it shipped in overnight... now I have to figure out how to connect my depth finder/sonar.. both of these were "sonar ready" MG Digital Tour trolling motors... BUT, the connector to the depth finder had changed on the new one.... I now find out I need not one, but TWO adapters to connect my new MG trolling motor to my depth finder.... two days on the phone and Internet to learn this and that $50 and shipping charges will get me the correct adapters... MG support wasn't even appologetic when they told me that the old adapter wouldn't work and that their new adapter wouldn't supply the power to the depth finder like the old one did... they just told me to call Lowrance to get the additional adapter.... moan, groan, whine... why can't I just fish...

Thanks for your reply and good luck with your new TM. You have more patience than I do. I feel that if I spend $1,000.00 on a trolling motor, it should work correctly without having to use a screwdriver and grease. If it happens again, I'm taking it back for a refund and going with MK.

Had similar problem with my 36volt digital tour model.I had a 2009 model that mg recalled because there was the possiblity of water leaking in around the transducer. After the new motor with the transducer out on the nose was installed. The transducer did not work because it was wired differently than the previous model, however mg failed to notify anyone of the changes. Pretty aggravating plus time consuming. Should not happen, evidently it happens and on a regular basis. I had to buy another transducer to mount on the trolling motor for my depth finder to work until the problem I hope is now corrected.

As far as I can tell, it is not solved... spoke to MG and Lowrance techs via phone yesterday trying to get the right adapter...twice... it took more than 2 hours on the phone to find out that it took 2 adapters (one from MG, one from Lowrance) to make the depth finder work with the new tm... Lowrance said they could not understand why MG would do this..
