Yes but it does not make sense to plug in fishing programming if you have another sport that is willing to pay for the airtime.

That's the problem Mark-spelling bees and poker are not sports. If ESPN is going to call themselves the 24 hr. sports channel, then show sports. If not, call themselves the 24 hr. pimp channel!

Don't like this decision but on the other hand, if this means the demise of Beat Charlie Moore, then that might be okay.

Charlies Moore is an idiot but I could put up with him to keep BASS on ESPN.

Is this the first month they shipped a Saltwater Magazine with the Bassmaster Magazine?

What I don't understand is why there are a jillion hunting shows on the outdoor networks but fishing is back burner. I hope someone gives them some air time. +1 on keeping Zona on, even my wife likes that one!

Seriously, does anyone believe that if you owned a network that you would show the lowest rated shows with the lowest paying advertisers? Hunting, poker and bowling shows all out sell fishing shows in airtime revenue. ESPN is in the business of making money and not handing out charity.

ESPN has pumped millions of dollars into bass fishing as a sport and have not seen the returns to justify it any longer. Do you really think they just take shows off the air that get stellar ratings? Fishing is not a spectator sport. Take away the Classic Expo from the Bassmaster Classic and attendance would plummet. I still say I cannot fault ESPN for stepping out of this if they are not making money.

But you like watching tournament fishing shows? I've been fishing for 30 years and I can't understand why people watch tournaments.

To each his own, I guess.

I liked the Saturday&Sunday morning shows when it was freezing cold or 102' degrees, because I was inside drinking coffee those mornings.
For the majority of my Saturdays and Sundays we're on the water, I never get to watch any shows, it's very rare.
I don't TEVO anything, nor do I care to, I don't watch much TV anyhow. I do/did like having the option to view some good fishing shows on ESPN.. I have WFN and it's 24/7 baby, even with the re-runs it's great for when I'm ready to watch TV.

I guess my point is, why do they=ESPN air the shows when most fisherman are on the water for the most part ??

I second the to dang many Hunting shows.. Gezz, that's what I call SUPER saturation.

Perhaps it would have had better ratings if they weren't constantly trying to turn Bassmasters into a reality show. ESPN snubbed the hardcore bass fishing enthusiasts long ago when they tried to "grow the sport" by targeting some other unidentifiable demographic (obviously it didn't pan out).

I figure ESPN will eventually just drop all of it including the Bassmaster magazine which over the years has really turned into nothing anyway.I understand the point of ESPN giving airtime to shows that are more profitable than fishing, but so why did they ever even buy BASS to begin with? What were they thinking?that they could market bass fishing to become as popular as hockey or tennis?I guess they tried real hard to throw a bunch of emotion and hype into professional fishing thinking that would sell the sport for them.I sure wish Ray Scott would hurry up and buy them back.He had a passion and commitment to BASS to make it work unlike ESPN.
