I always stay at Angler's Lodge. I like it but all I need is a shower and a place to sleep, I spend my days on the lake. They open the kitchen and bait shop at 05:00 and the breakfast is good as home cookin'. Never had any trouble with the boat burglars like they always report at Amistad Resort. Its no "resort" but they don't purport themselves to be either. Its a fishingman's hotel and it seems that they like it that way. It works great for me and I guess I will continue to go back. Like the idea of Ruthie's. If you stay there be sure and give us a report.

Angler's Lodge is the way to go. I've been down there twice now in the past 10 months and am going to be back down there in a few weeks. Angler's Lodge is a true "fisherman's" place. The rooms give you what you need for a short or an extended stay. The people are friendly and all associated with fishing in one way or another.

If you want some fancy thing, you need to go into town and roll the dice on your rig getting broken into. If you want your stuff safe, my vote is definitely Angler's Lodge. Someone is always in the office and awake, and the traffic from fisherman is so constant I don't think anyone would wanna mess around back there behind the hotel.

Also, go sit in the front office for breakfast one morning, delay your trip out onto the water for half an hour and just listen. You can absorb a lot of information about the lake and current conditions. Not to mention, you can ask any of the old timers in there and they will always point you in the right direction.

I am staying at Ruthie's in a couple of weeks. I will give a report after my stay. I like the idea of being away from town and away from the crimal activity. I also like the idea of being right next to the boat ramp on the Devil's River. Hopefully it turns out to be a good place.

Amistad Lake Resort as of yesterday rooms clean enough bed and shower good enough. It would be a lot better if they would shoot or get rid of 20 cats or so. Had cat pee on boat cover and the little rocks in front of the room smell like a bad cat box.

At first when you pull in youll be iffy if it was worth it, but after you get into you trailer, look around and see what your getting for your money you wont have any regrets. Ive stayd at lake amistad resort once and wont go back,,,,Ive been back to ruthies 4 or 5 times. And I always catch good fish in the river close to the ramp. And the sceenery on the river when you put in is beautiful..

I agree about the cats at Amistad resort-I would think the coyotes would knock some of them off-and I like cats but they are going wild at that place!

Angler's has a great breakfast, but the smoke gets a little heavy sometimes.

Just got back (5-10 through 5-18) from staying at Amistad Resort. It's the second consecutive year we stayed there. I doubt you can find rooms cheaper- 8 nights registered online, cost $310. The rooms are pretty clean, a little run-down but we've paid twice as much to stay in much worse accomodations at Fork! We never had any issues with thievery but we always clean the boat out every night no matter where we stay. This day and age I trust noone or no place!! We had great neighbors in Sam & Mike Cotton for most of the week at the "resort". I would recommend it as a great place to catch some Z's between days on the water, but don't expect it to be a 5-Star hotel. Location is great also- a view of the lake, right between Black Brush and Diablo East ramps and not too bad of a drive to Box Canyon.

Anglers Lodge if you can get a room. They stay pretty booked. About the best burger in Del Rio and real good breakfast taco's also. It is also nice to have an on site tackle shop.
