Definitely a great reminder on why we should all wear eye protection while we're fishing.

I remember hearing that they use curare to paralyze the eyeball during surgeries like that.

One of my best friends is a fly fisherman. He does NOT wear eye protection. I got on to him about it the last time we fished together. I just sent him that video in email. I always wear eye protection when I go fly fishing. If you don't, take a look at that video, IT WILL MAKE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND...whew.

That one scares me plenty.

I've also heard of guys holding one in their lips when changing flies midstream. They get stung by a bug and inhale the fly into the lungs. Could be an old wives tale told by old wives to keep us from fishing.

Guess I might oughtta quit doing that. That is EXACTLY how I change flies when I'm wading. Never thought about the chance of inhaling the fly.
