I must admit to seeing some discussion on the board about various year model Ford diesels and some being better than others, but never remembered which were good.
There is a 2002 F-250 with a (presumably) stock 7.3 for sale with a travel trailer in the clssified section. Would this be one of the good ones? What kind of fuel economy could be expected? It has around 104k miles and has been used to pull a 5th wheel TT.

Depending on the price, I'd buy it in a second. I sold my 96 7.3 and regret it everyday. Had no choice but to go to a dually but I wish I would have held on to the 7.3 Great engine. To answer MPG, I got about 17 MPG empty at 70 mph and about 15 MPG pulling the boat.

Thanks for the input, I have a '97 GMC 1ton crew cab with a 350 gas motor but it only gets 13 mpg hwy and 10 mpg towing my 24ft pontoon. This sounds like it would do better towing a travel trailer.

If you are thinking of getting it I would check out the injectors and make sure they are not leaking. The person I bought it from told me to put in Marvel Mystery Oil to lubricate it. They have went to low sulfer at the pumps and that is what lubricates your engine. The low sulfer will dry out the O-rings on the injectors and they will start to leak. I have been adding to his recommendations and have not had any problems yet. I have owned it 2 1/2 years. I'm about to turn 200,000 miles.

What would be a "good" price. It looks (cosmetically) from the pics to be in good shape.

Gotta figure in the price difference in the two vehicles. If that '97 is paid for then I would stick with it.

Yes the 97 is paid for but was "teenaged" by my son when he was 17-18 yo and the wife won't want to take it on trips till all the body damage is corrected (about 3-4K) !

Price depends on the options it has. I haven't read the thread you are talking about.
Is the truck 4x4, crew cab, long bed, XLT or Lariat package? All of the above mentioned make a big difference in whether it's worth the money or not.

The thread is in the non fishing classifieds for a Fifth Wheel TT and Truck. It is a 2002 Crew Cab Short bed with cloth seats and keyless entry so I'm not sure what package that would be but the pics look good!
