Well im still learning the ropes on fishing and I have a couple of rod and reels, but I really dont think that any will be good for catfishing. The are all medium action rods. I need help choosing a good inexpensive rod and reel that will be good for catfishing. Im planning on going out to tawakoni on June 26th with a couple of friends so I want to have the right thing to fish with. Any help would really be appreciated.

Proangler would be the way to go, great rod for the price. You won't be disappointed. Here's a thread with other options from a while back:

Unless you are trying for a giant or tossing big weights, those medium action rods will work this time of year. I have 10 med. light action rods in my boat now and 8 ProAngler rods. I use the lighter rods for channel catfishing and the ProAnglers are getting a live perch or cut shad on them for the blues and flatheads. I even keep a MICROLIGHT rod and have been wearing out the channels on it. I have only had this little rod a month and I think I have about fried the little Diawa reel.

Well I took the bait and ran with it. I went and got myself a proangler rod the other day and topped it with an abu c4. I havent fished with it but I did cast it with a 1oz weight and got it an easy 80yards without really trying.

The rod quality is much better than my uglystick and those yellow ones. It might be a little heavy for a small catfish but its a good rod.

No I have the black ones bc there were no 6'6 white catfishing rods but no matter which one you pick you will be happy.

+1 mh uglysticks for for regular catfishing. Academy even does a sale regularly where you get a nice discount! If going after trophy size catfish, I think the ugly stick tigers might be the ticket. I haven't caught giant catfish on them but they work well on big bull redfish and small sharks so I imagine they would be a good fit for jumbo cats too.
