setting up for catfish

going to take the boy out for some catfishing friday night..where should i set the boat up water depth? ledges? around large sunken rocks? all of the above? whats going to be my best setup for this time of year?

Where you gonna be fishing? Shallows around structure would be a good start. Prob the most fun for the boy would be a slip cork with some punch bait or stink bait.

going to be fishing lake travis and the pedernales river that feeds into travis ..i know where to get him into a mess of small eating size channels but im looking to maybe give up numbers for size on this trip ..trying to keep him interested

I would go with shad then in the same scenario. This time of year it's mainly eater size, every now and then you'll luck into a better quality fish but it's just not as common as Winter fishing.
