IT WAS TOO WINDY TO TAKE OUT THE BOAT SO I DECIDED TO BANK FISH.
HAD A GOOD DAY AT CLEAR CREEK IN DENTON.
CAUGHT 18 LARGE SAND BASS AND A 4 LB LARGE MOUTH BETWEEN 11 AM AND 1:30 PM. HAD THE DAY OFF AND TURNED OUT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE AT THE TIME. THE WATER IN CLEAR CREEK WAS PRETTY CLEAN BUT AT THE FORKS THE WATER FROM RAY ROBERTS WAS VERY MUDDY.
THE LARGE MOUTH I CAUGHT HAD A BLOOD RED WORT BEHIND IT'S DORSAL FIN - LOOKED LIKE A PARASITE OF SOME KIND. ANY BODY KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT (SECOND TIME I'VE CAUGHT ONE WITH THIS GROWTH ON IT).

YOU GO OUT HARTLEE FIELD ROAD TIL IT TURNS
BACK UP TO THE NORTH - YOU WILL SEE AT THE CORNER WHERE CARS HAVE PARKED - PARK THERE AND FOLLOW THE TRAILS - ABOUT .5 MILE WALK TO THE CREEK.
E-MAIL ME IF YOU NEED MORE DIRECTIONS.

IT WAS SLOW OUT THERE ON SAT. - I WENT FROM 11;30 - 2;00 - ONLY CAUGHT 2 AND ONLY SAW A COUPLE OTHERS CAUGHT. MAY BE THE COLD FRONT
SHUT THEM DOWN FOR A DAY OR TWO.
I WAS USING A WHITE STUNMP JUMPER WITH A GRUB TAIL. ALSO HAD SOME LUCK WITH AN IN-LINE SPINNER. ALSO CAUGHT A STRINGER FULL OF POSON IVEY.
DON'T GIVE UP ON IT - IT IS A GOOD PLACE TO FISH. MAY SEE YOU OUT THERE THIS AFTERNOON. HOLLER IF YOU HEAR ME !!!

Robert,

Thought that might be you under the signature of "Papa Peck"! You made the right decision to fish the creeks instead of the Lake yesterday. Tell all the boys hello!

See you soon on RC!

Royce

ROYCE

WHEN THE WEATHER HAS BEEN TOO BAD TO TAKE THE BOAT OUT I'VE BEEN FISHING THE CREEKS.
I'VE BEEN OUT IN THE BOAT WHEN THE FORECAST WAS 10- 20 AND IT TURNED OUT IT WAS GUSTING 30-35 MPH. DON'T WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN - CAN IMAGINE WHAT IT WAS LIKE YESTERDAY - STILL SOUNDS LIKE YOU DID PRETTY GOOD.
IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN GETTING INTO A MESS OF WHITES WHEN YOU ARE CATCHING ONE ON EVERY CAST?
I DO HAVE ONE PROBLEM WITH THE SUCCESS ON THE CREEKS. HAVING A HARD TIME CONVINCING MY WIFE THAT THE BOAT IS NECESSARY. I HAVE A 15K BOAT IN THE GARAGE AND CATCHING MORE FISH FROM THE BANKS THAN FROM THE BOAT.
THAT'S GOING TO HAVE TO CHANGE SOON OR I MAY BE IN BIG TROUBLE. MAY HAVE TO MODIFY MY STORIES IF IT GETS ANY BETTER. GUESS IT'S A GOOD THING I'VE BEEN THROWING MOST OF THEM BACK.
ACTUALLY I STILL HAVE FISH IN THE FREEZER FROM FISHING WITH YOU LAST FALL - AND WITH 8 FISH EATERS AROUND MY PLACE THAT WILL TELL YOU HOW GOOD WE DID WITH YOU ON THOSE 3 TRIPS WE TOOK.
IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS TROUBLE FINDING THE WHITES - GET WITH ROYCE ON RC AND YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CRAPPIE TO GET GOING.

ROBERT

Robert,

Sent you a couple of E-Mails, but they came back "Undeliverable". Have a couple of dates that wanted to run by you to share a Boat with a gentleman for Crappie Fishing. They're 4/30 & 5/6 in the AM. Thought the 4/30 might be something you and/or your Dad would be interested in if your Dad does come in from Florida.

The gentleman is about your Dad's age and is a diehard Crappie fisherman. He fishes with me two or three days every year during the Spawn. (He's the guy on my webpage with the Lady and the Crappie)

Call me at 903-389-4117 if interested.

Papa Peck,

Went out to clear creek yesterday, went to the north when I reached the creek and only caught one. Then decided to go south and didnt catch anything but saw some people who have some very nice sandies. Where exactally is the best place to fish out there? There is a lot of different places to try.

Thanks for the help

when you go up to the north you will come to a wide spot they call the pot hole -
this is a very good place to fish when they are biting
if you go to the south - down stream - fish the spots along the bank - i've caught fish every place i could get down into - i've also caught a load of poison ivey - any body know how to get rid of it ??

if you follow the trail down stream far enough you come to a place called the forks -
it's where clear creek and the elm fork of the trinity meet - this is a very good spot to fish - this is where i had great success on friday - this is where most people go - it's a good walk - at least a mile
i've caught fish all along the creek from the pot hole down to the forks and back
sometimes you just have to wait on them to move up stream
i went sat and sunday - both days were slow
caught several nice ones yesterday at the pot hole but it was slow - think the cold spell slowed them down
supposed to warm up this week so i'm hoping it will get going again.

Papa Peck,

Thanks for sharing that info on your post. I've had good results getting rid of poison ivy using "Zanfel". It is expensive, but worth it. I picked it up a Eckerds.

YOURNAMEHERE

IS ZANFEL OVER THE COUNTER OR DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION??

TEXASMAMA

I'VE HAD THE MOST SUCCESS WITH WHITE ROAD RUNNERS OR STUMP JUMPERS - 1/8 OZ. WITH A WHIT GRUB TAIL - CAUGHT SOME ON OTHER COLORS BUT THE WHITE IS BEST FOR ME.
