My friend and I are planning for a wade-fishing trip (Freeport) this weekend. I am not familiar with wade-fishing at all. I really need tips on rod, reel, line, tackles, baits, techniques... All tips are appreciated.

They need to combine some of these forums on here. Here you go again;
I fished from my boat at SLP yesterday, and fell into a conversation with some surf fishermen, while waiting on the croaker boat to get back to the bait camp. They had been doing real well fishing the surf between surfside, and SLP. I remember that they said they were fishing at mile #7, and #4. I'm not fimiliar with the mile roads, but I left just behind them. They pulled into the surf near old the pilings, where a condimenion had been started years ago. Anywhere from there all the way to the pass should be fine.

fishing in the surf depends on the wind condition and water clarity. Yesterday was good but not today, i can see the whitecaps on the water.

for some inshore wading, you can use spinning or baitcast reels... whatever you're more comfortable with. spinning will be cheaper (i'd recommend a shimano). if you go baitcast, don't skimp... the salt is hard on them. i prefer the shimano curado. use 20-30lb braided line with a 20-30lb leader. you can use live bait such as shrimp but i prefer artificials on 1/8 oz jig heads... much easier and, in my opinion, better. get a couple of popular colors of saltwater assassins or texas tackle factory killer flats minnow. a wading belt and boots will help as well. search the forum for suggestions.
