I was at the launch ramp when someone came up and said they had a "weird" fish. He was correct! Does anybody know the name of this fish?

Yep, algae eater. Have one just like it in my aquarium (just much smaller). Cool fish. Very docile. Did they let it go, or did they kill it? Hopefully they let it go. That one has cooler markings than mine.
They just live their life sucking algae off rocks, stumps, and whatever else is down there. They'll also chew on real wood a little bit. They like it, not sure why.

real wood? Real wood: yes, the fake plants, wood, and rocks in typical aquariums are great for algae eaters to just clean off. But in some dark water South American Cichlid tanks people will put real wood (i forget the specific kind, but I do know it's a certain type of root) to make the water have a softer PH and have healthier fish. It's more like their native waters. Anyway, those pleco's like to chew on it, I guess it's harmless and I can't imagine that it has any nutritional value for them.

I looked up plecostomus and that is it! It was about 18 - 20 inches and about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 lbs.
The guy that caught it had it in his livewell. He put it back in the livewell after showing everyone, so I don't know if he released it or had it for dinner!
