i woulda laughed at him, until i saw the line hanging out- then said "oh chit! time to get to the doc!".. lead isnt something ya want in your body

Back in the 70's one of my dad's friends was up at Broken Bow and yanked a t-rig from a branch above the the water and the thing came back and hit him in the face. The weight hit in the corner of the eye and went around the eyeball. The local hospital wouldn't touch him. They gave him some pain meds and said to get to Dallas a fast as possible. Needless to say he lost the eye. Being an auto body man he couldn't paint anymore.
My little bro caught one in the nads one time, made him so sick he started throwing up.

Thats crazy stuff. I caught a football jig in the hand before ripping it out of a tree, on braid, if it was a bullet type weight it might have gone right thru it.

Had that happen to me except it hit my stomach, felt like I got shot. Good thing I had 2 layers of clothes on or it would have penetrated. Now I wrap a boat cleat and hit the trolling motor and get out of the line of fire. cause that hurts... bad.

That's one of the advantages of using braid. It doesn't stretch, so it doesn't recoil like line that does.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal unless you got it in you digestive tract? Aside from the physical trauma of course.

Saw one go through a guys snowmobile suit,jeans and long johns once and embed about 2" in his thigh muscle. Tied the line in a loop and went to the Doc. He said if he had pulled the line out he would have had to leave the weight in his leg because if he tried to cut it out it would have just moved up or down the muscle tissue and he probably would not catch up with it.
It was ugly with the 25 lb line tied in a loop and them cutting his pants leg off to get to it. I heard of some guy doing this in Ca. several years back it hit him in the temple and killed him. Hooks are not nearly as dangerous!

SWEET BOO BOO!!!! I took a crappie jig to the face once and the hook embeded in my cheek. Had to drink some wiskey and push the hook through the skin and cut off the barb and pull the rest of the hook out.
