anyone using hellpets, simple rig with a petspoon tied about 6 ft. behind a hellbender, and trolled between 1.5 and 2.5 mph. works good on sandies and walleye

Me think everyone who posts on here uses the HB/PS rig.

Hell/Pet???

I kinda like the Hell/pet idea!

Lots of folks have even caught catfish on them.

Go up to the top and click on "Search". Type in "Hellpet", select the "Whites-Hybrids-Striper" forum and set it for "Any date". There will probably be enough hits come up to keep you reading 2-3 hours.

Where I learned most of my stuff was from posts by Billy Seaman, Steve Bradbury, Ernest Paty, and Redfin.

There are also some other hits in the Lures forum.

Two things that sound different is that I use a 4 ft leader (got that from Steve) and troll it at 3.2 to 3.5 MPH (also from Steve--I guess that guide trip was worth something ).

I learned about the hell-pet on this board, and thank you all for the info. I fish LL 3 or 4 mornings a week and find it very useful.

To try to repay you guys for the help, if you have not tried a clear Zara Puppy for the schooling sandies, you are missing the boat. It absolutely outfishes everything else I have ever thrown. Works so well I even have several that I have replaced the treble hooks with singles and crushed the barbs. (Actually I have removed the barbs on all the hooks on my sandy baits.) That way you can get the fish off quicker and catch more.

You might want to super glue the screw eyes in the plug, as they have a tendency to unscrew when the action is really hot.

I gave one of these to a guy Monday morning fishing out between the old dam and Deadman's point. I was catching fish on every cast and he was catching one about every ten minutes before the Zara. He ended up having as much fun as my 4 year old granddaughter does on those really good days.

Thanks again to all for the hell-pet info.
