I have stayed there for years. The rooms are clean and big and there is plenty of room for your boat. You can get a room with a kitchen if you need it for a little more money.

The only time I have seen any trouble there was this year when some boats were broken into on a Fri. night. That same night they also hit Lakeview across the street. This day and age we should all be careful anytime we get close to the border.

We have stayed there many times. You can back your boat right up to the door. As long as you take your rods and graphs in and you lock your compartments you will not have any problems. I have seen pickups late at night drive thru. They were looking for an easy score, if they see something laying out on your deck, it will be gone. We always get the kitchen. Those rooms are on the back facing the lake and even have a pit in front of each room for cooking. You just got to becareful any where down there. We stayed at the La Quinta back in Feb. and got broke into. The only place I know that is safe is Amistad Lodge. Carl has the most secure Motel on the lake.

I've always stayed at amistad lake resort and never had any problems. You will end up driving to anglers lodge for the burritoes and to get any tackle that you need and will have to back track a little bit to do so. Amistad lake resort has a real nice bar there also. Either place is great.

Which is better, Anglers Lodge or Amistad Lake Resort? And why? I am taking my wife so which one do you think she would like more?

If I were choosing between the two, I'd go with the Amistad resort.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

That's like asking someone what is the best rod. Everyone has a reason for their opinion. If it were me, I wouldn't stay at Amistad Resort. But, that's just me. A lot of people love staying at Amistad Lodge and report great service and extra clean rooms. I just like the fact of knowing someone is there to watch the place at night, so I go elsewhere.

I have stayed at Amistad Lodge for over 20 years (5 owners I believe)...The rooms are large and some money has been spent the last several years on cleanup and improvement. Weekend can be booked so plan ahead but at least there will plenty of fishermen comraderie...

Amistad Lodge especially if you are taking any young uns, they have a pool and, from my experience is a bit more "family friendly" than others mentioned.
Edit: Sorry I meant Amistad Resort not Lodge.

OK, I'm getting confused here. I am familiar with Amistad Lake Resort and Anglers Lodge, but am not familiar with Amistad Lodge. Has there been a name change on one of these recently?

I stayed at Lake Amistad Resort. To put it nicely its far from a resort. Its an old hotel they call a resort. I didnt have any trouble, the people were nice. The rooms were what youd expect to get at an older motel 8 or 6. I had my wife , inlaws, brother in law and my wifes friend,,and no one was happy there. I wont go back. Now when we go we stay on the other side of the lake in Rough canyon. You can rent an entire single wide trailer with 3 or 4 bedrooms cable tv full kitchen,, park your boat next to the front door. cook out have a small fire pit,,.. its much nicer and better. like 75 or 80 bucks a night. And I dont think thats much higher if any than the lake Amistad Resort. If your goin with your buddies on a fishing trip Lake amistad resort is great, not so much for a nice relaxing get away to the lake with your girl.,,thats just my opinion...

Amistad Lake Resort and Amistad Lodge are the same place. It was named Amistad Lodge for years before Byron Velvick bought it out and renamed it. Some of us oldtimers have a hard time wrapping our heads around new names.
