 What is this? What does it do? Where does it go?

I noticed this thing (My finger is on it in the first picture) had come loose from wherever it goes this weekend. It seems to be a hose with a barb end sticking out of the end of it. It has no hole in the end of it. I do not know what it is, and can find nothing about it in my manual. Can someone please tell me what this is and what I need to do with it. Thanks, Jason
