Do any of you use "paddle tail" style worms any more? #4868659 05/17/10 02:54 PM

Seem like there are very few paddle tail type worms on the market these days (comparatively speaking). The type I am talking about would be any worm like say the Mann's Jelly worm that had a flat tail, no matter what the shape of the tail is.

I'm not talking about twister or ribbon tail type worms. Just plain 'ole flat tails in whatever kind of shape.

Are there any situations where you think the paddle tail style of worm works better, or are the straight style of worms just more versatile and that's why there are so many more of them out there now?

I fish the LFT Hyperworm with a paddle tail all summer.

What do you mostly fish in on fouzman, some buddies were asking me about it the other day and ive never used one, looks like it would be good on a carolina rig though.

Back when Creme quit making the shimmy gal and shimmy babe worms I bought 200 each of the purple, grape and plumb colors. Done emptied my supply of the plumb color but still have some purple and grape left. They have their applications but I use them alot especially in areas that have alot of pressure. More or less just to give them a different look, they still catch fish.

Still have some of the red shad and the true motoroil ( motor oil color with gold flake). Good reminder. May have to pull them out on of these days. Effective bait as a slooooowwww crankbait retrieve.

I've been throwing these off and on for the past few months at Fork and Falcon with good success. I typically Texas rig it on a 3/8 oz or 1/2 oz Tru Tungsten weight. Some days fish it like any other worm, and other days, I rip it off the bottom. You can feel the big paddletail thump on the pull and on the fall.

I have a couple hundred big ol Senko style baits with a big wide paddle tail I like to flip in muddy water. Caught some really good fish on them, but muddy water is the only time I use them.

Those are very close to the ones I use. And your right about feeling them thump too!

Those things are old school and will not catch fish, you have to use the new stuff.

I used the zoom speed worm this year sight fishing and had very good success. It seemed like if there was a fish that I couldn't get to bite on a bed I would put that thing on and boom.

I use the Zoom Original Speed Worm in Chart/pepper all the time. Have yet to fish a lake that they will not catch fish at some point during the year.
