Heading to South Padre tomorrow will not have a boat so will only be wading and was wondering if anyone could point me in the righ direction. Not looking for anyones honey holes but just a place to start and what lures to throw this will be my first time down there..

Go out early past the convention center (north end of south padre) and look for a place to drive towards bay. Start wading out and you should find some fish. Fish topwaters early and switch to assassins later. red if sunny and plum if cloudy are my favorites.

Was down there 2 weeks ago and all the trout we caught were over 20in. When we couldnt find the right color Assin we switched up to a 3" Gulp in New Penny on a 1/8oz jighead. We slow bounced them off the bottom. It started off feeling like a piggy perch bite and then it would stop, like it was caught in the grass, then start slowly moving, thats when to set the hook. We were pretty close to where Mudbug suggested, in mostly 3ft of water. Good luck and use a lot of sun screen!

Not meant to be spam..just thought you may want to have a live look at south padre and the area. We have many real live cams running and you can control the surf cam and Louie's cam and the birding center cam. the new birding cam has a view of the flats
