All of the boat ramps that I used before Ike to access Galveston East Bay and the North Jetty were wiped out by the hurricane. The ramps that I used were on the Texas City Dike, Shirley's in Port Bolivar, the ramp at the base of the North Jetty, and the Bolivar Yacht Basin. Can anybody point me in the direction of substitute ramps or tell me if any of those listed have been reopened?

I've tried the Galveston Yacht Basin a few times and need some place else. I have a 20 foot bay boat with a tunnel hull and can't control it in reverse good enough for that busy and crowded ramp area. I've had the boat for 18 years so practice and technique have nothing to do with the lack of control. We otherwise love the boat so replacing it is not an option. I've used Stingaree many times over the years but need something closer to the jetty.

Bolivar Yacht Basin is open, not sure about Shirleys. The Dike is still closed.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Hornbecks Bait Camp and boat ramp on 23rd Street in Port Bolivar is open.
