Finaly gave fishing wacky style a try yesturday and I'm hooked. I was nailing them left and right at Athens on it. Took me a minute to get used to thethem not really " hitting" it and them just grabing the bait and swimming off. I guess that's normal for a wacky rig?
Now my big question, what is the best worm to use? I was using Senko's but every fish I caught I lost my bait, so basicly I almost used up a whole bag yesturday. Is there something out there that works just as good but will hold up and not fly off?

Zoom trick worms, finesse worms. Big bite baits, trick stick. Berkley heavy weights sinking worm. I like any of the tailless worms.

I guess that's normal for a wacky rig? Every bite can be different. Some will really slam it, other bites will be so subtle you won't even know unless you're really paying attention. This might be bad technique on my part, but I like to wait a second or two after I get the "tick-tick" before setting the hook to give the fish time to take the worm. Works well for me.

I am with you on this, but I am thinking about going to the " if I feel a hit, slam em hook set" technique. It seems I have been missing a few more fish lately on a wacky worm. Though I feel alot of the misses are small fish and bream..

Dont worry about it, you are doing something right you have confidence in.. Just keep buying more tackle, this is how it becomes an expensive sport!!

The tick tick can be a little mis leading at times. I was fishing a tourney at cedar creek and we were doing really well. I had caught two or three small fish that just went tick.tick bam set the hook, 12 incher.
I made a cast real shallow and felt tick tick, and kinda half arse set the hook, and all heck broke loose. It was almost 5lbs, got her in the boat. when my partner put the net down, the hook popped out.
Always slam it on a wacky rig. no matter what. Its a great way to fish, and when its on, its on.

I didn't feel any of the tick tick hits or a slam, all my fish I just felt a slight resitance and noticed my line moving off so I just set the hook. Caught about 7 like that.

Have to pay attention to any slight jump or anything in your line. May not be able to feel the bite but most times if your watching close enough you will be able to see your line move when you get hit.

What depths do you fish it before you add any weight?
