Thx for all the help! I was thinking of going with a Rapala or Mister Twisters. Just can't do a American Angler again!

I made an unusual addition the my small collection of filet knives.
I took a short machete, I bought at a recent gun show. It has a very pointed tip, instead of the rounded end you usually see. The end of this almost has a profile of a bowie knife.
I put an edge, and I mean a razor's edge on it.
I filled several large catfish over the weekend, and it worked very well.
It was made in China, and says " tomahawk ".
It also held it's edge pretty well.
I use a sharpener called a V-Sharp, if anyone is interested.
It took a coupld hundred swipes to get a machete this sharp, but it dang sure did it.

You know for all the talk about electric knives, I have learned a SHARP filet knife is far easier to use.

X2 I had mine for years and it probably cleaned somewhere north of 1000 fish before it burned up. Damn Redfish! LOL.

Went and bought another one and so far it has a couple hundred fish done and is working fine. Not many redfish in this group though. That will come later this summer I hope.

on my guiding business I use only american angler knives because they have the best power and blades on the market for catfishing. I also ssharpen my blades with a muslin buff with polishing compoound and it gets them sharper than factory blades. the american angler knives can only be ordered from walmart.com now ... that'sthe only place i'VE FOUND them lately but they'll outlast rapala or berkley knives 5 to 1 or maybe more. rapala was bought by pure fishing so they put the berkley name on them .. the new berley knives at walmart are the same as theold rapala knives thaqt we gqave 40 bux for and are no good as far as lasting a while .. pay no attention to my typing ... got a new puter aqnd i'm haqvcing to type on a regulat keyboard insted of my ergonomic keyboard that I"ve been so used to. gotta find me an adapter thqat'll letme use my round plug on a usb port.
