How do you make it? I remember years back a freind would use what he said was chicken blood that was allowed to sit in the sun for a few day and gel up. Where do you get this from and how to prep it? Thanks

Blood, Salt, and a bit of sugar. Beef blood is best.

i use beef blood it works great! caught 34 channels and blues lastnight all on blood. this time of year is the PERFECT time for running lines with blood. it will wash off easy usually if the line sits for more than 15 minutes the bait it gone. most fish we caught got on the line within 5 minutes after we baited them.

I've used a blood bait I bought at Marco's Fisherman's Supply on I-30 in Garland with great success. I can't remember the maker, but it comes out of an east Texas Chicken growers business. The chicken blood is mixed with some ground up looking chicken feathers giving it much better hook staying ability than standard recipe bloodbait. With a little practice you can cast this stuff fairly well. Kinda reminds me of the stinkbait/cat-tail deal I guess. The catfish love it! It's sold in tubs at a reasonable price. I didn't do hardly any catfishing last year, and still have some in the deepfreeze from the year before I'll be dragging out in a few days to toss out over the rocks! I guess they still sell it. Everyone I talked to who used it was happy with it.
