I see often people (Amateur and Novice) like to thread the stringer through their gills. And, they would leave the dead fish on the stringer all day long while they fish. By the time, they go home all the fish turn white and pale! Some of the fish eyeballs even turn cloudy and white too! bang

There isn't nothing like the sound of pulling up a fish basket and hearing all the crappie tryin to swim with no water...!

Also, a fish basket will help keep the snakes and turtles from eating them before you do!

thumb Yep! That is ONE GREAT SOUND for sure! When I am dock fishing I use a floating basket, then put them on ice for the ride home, but I only dock fish in winter.

I dump ice out of the bag it comes in into my cooler and put the fish immediately on ice. Don't leave the ice in the bag or the crappie get real slimy
