I got my renewal notice from Progressive and it stated I must get Mexican liability Insurance if I fish Mexican water. They dont sell it so you have to get it from a Mexican Insurance company. I called and asked if this is the case for border lakes and after a very annoying conversation all I got was the old unfortunately sir. If thats the case it looks like Ill be dumping Progressive. If any one finds out differently, please let me know.

I've always wondered if insurance would cover if anything happened on the Mexican side of a border lake. Has it always been this way?

In the past most insurance covered you 25 miles in, car boat etc, or at least thats what I thought. I bet in this day and time all bets are off and you need to have Mexico insurance if you want coverage.

Thanks, Billy

I think I'll pass. I don't think a Mexican National can sue me in the U.S. and any judgement that they would get in Mexico would not be upheld in the U.S. so I say bring it on.

That all I need -- what company is that? And about the liability, Progressive won't cover boat damage or loss if you don't have liability.

I guess if you lost a lower unit in Mexico you could troll over to America. I just prefer to be on the up and up if I reasonably can.

JPost send me an IM with your phone number and I will call you and discuss this coverage for "Liability" while fishing International waters. I am an insurance agent and have sold this coverage to all the Elite anglers that fish Amistad and Falcon since 2006.

Most of those policies cover you so many miles across the border as long as it's on the water.

I think that if anything ever happened to me on a border lake that required insurance...it happened on the US side.

This is from Progressive who I am going to drop like a rock, the policy says

"This Mexico Coverage does not apply if liability insurance from a licensed Mexican insurance company is not in force at the time of loss"

That is from the book and I did not know that so I am going to talk to Debra soon.
I hate progressive they suck.

I have Charter Lakes Insurance, and it specifies that I am covered on the Mexico side.

Maybe we need to get some input from Bob Luellen @ Worldwide Marine. He sells Progressive boat insurance and has sold to a lot of folks on here. My understanding when I got my Progressive policy through Bob was that I was covered on Falcon and Amistad.
