So many ways to catch reds its difficult to say what is the best way. Fresh crab on a 3-0 hook usually works fished on the bottom. Live mullet is a good choice under a cork in skinny water over oyster beds. Soft plastics on a jig head will produce results. Main thing is you gotta find the fish and start fishin!

I use cut mullet as well... Peter 2 put you on the right path. For sharks fish the surf with spider weights and a fresh piece of cut mullet, whiting and a piece of sting ray.

theres not really a best way to catch them as long as you can find them im sure you can catch them.
for sharks the best bait is cownose ray/sting ray, jackfish chunk, cut mullet.
LETS FISH!!

Reds live in channels, on the flats, in the grass, they roam wherever they want.
My way is sight fishing with plastics or topwaters, but that takes the right equipment. Like they said you can anchor up on a channel drain and catch them too. Current and bait in the area will be your keys.

The best redfish lure I have ever used is a gold spoon.

again, there's nothing such as a best way to catch reds. As long as you can find them and they're willing to bite. I've been lucky with dead shrimp, plastic (berkley gulps) and cut mullet as well.

Depends on the size of reds that you want. If you want large ones, fish the end of the jetty on an outgoing tide using mullet, crab, pogies, pinfish, pig perch or even shrimp. The close rigs have tons of large reds around them. I usually use a carolina rig and the size of the weight is determined by how much current there is. 5+ inch storm wildeyes and large jerkbaits also work for the large reds along the jetty. For smaller reds, I usually fish the bay using topwaters, assassins, and sometimes resort to the popping cork and shrimp but very rarely. I prefer to keep it simple and just have a few lures in my pocket and on my hat when bay fishing. Tank is right about the shark bait. Jack crevelle works very well too. Sometimes you can hit up dolphin dock or any other charter places and they might have a bonita they are willing to sell. Bonita will score you a shark almost everytime. Kingfish also make great bait but are illegal to use...lol Pay attention to the tidal movements and they will tell you where the fish are. The end of the jetty is almost always good on an out going tide while I tend to do very well in the bay anytime there is moving water. Guess it comes down to what peter said, find the fish and start fishing.

You can also use Menhaden (shad). Pinch the tail and toss it out freeline. While on the bottom, the crabs and perch will start tearing it apart and making a mess. This mess will attract the reds and they will finish it off.. Just turn the anti-reverse off on your reel and wait for the line to start tearing out.

I've had good luck with Gulp new penny colored shrimp in 3 inch size. I've found the 4 inch is a little big.

If the water is clean and clear, you can use just about anything. When it's stained and chocolate milky, then cutbait. Don't even bother using livebait when the water is stained. They can't even see it, unless you hit em upside the head with your bait.

outgoing tide washes bait out of the grass. reds will wait in cuts etc to ambush bait moving to deeper water. incoming tide brings bait back into grass for cover. redfish will cruise the grass line and ditches looking for bait there.

I have caught many redfish before, i noticed that they hit a artificial once and don't come back for it. They are a fun fish to catch.
