Has anyone used the Stren 100% Fluorocarbon? I've used the Stren original and thought it was great line. I'm thinking of getting some of the Stren Fluorocarbon and was wondering what ya’ll thought of it. Thanks for the replies...

I used the old stren flurocarbon formula years ago. It was O.K. Noticed the price was only $10 a spool at BPS the other day. Not sure but I think Berkeley may now own them. Hope it's not relabelled Vanish.

I bought some 4 and 10 lb. spools on clearance at Academy a few months ago. Haven't tried the 10 lb. yet, but my experience with the 4 lb. has been terrible. Had it on a Daiwa Fuego 1000A and Cabelas XML Ultralight rod. Decent manageability, but it's only 4 lb. line. The real test of this is in 8 lb. and heavier line. I noticed after only a few hours of fishing that the line began to shred, meaning that if you looked at it closely, you could see little slivers of line being formed. This made me concerned for the line's strength. I checked the guides for damage and they were fine. The scariest thing was after breaking off a hung up lure, the line seemed to deform and lose all integrity. I was not comfortable using the line after this happened. I stripped the line off when I got home and still haven't respooled. I went back to my trusty P-Line CX instead. I will probably trash the rest of the filler spool. I hope the 10 lb. works out better. Invis-X and BPS XPS are the only fluorocarbons I have been satisfied with so far.

Try the P line 100% FC. BPS has it. Wish Academy would carry it.

I tried out the Stren Floro 8# on Squaw Creek this past Friday. I was very pleased with it. It handles much better than the Vicious I had been using.
