Does anyone have a good web site that they go to that will show "accurate" wind readings? I have been going to weather.com and it seems that you need to add about 10 MPH to whatever they say the current readings are.

They would be better off predicting the wind speed as low, medium, or high. Never mind, that would be asking too much. How about just slow and fast with maybe a small picture of a turtle and a rabbit to assist with their highly scientific wind forecast?

When you can find a weatherman (or woman) who can accurately predict Texas weather, especially the wind speeds, let us all know. They would be in high demand!

I have weatherbug.com on my computer. It sits as a little button on the bottom right side next to the clock. Actually the button is the temperature reading. But when you click on it the rest pops up.

Also you can type in a different zip code and change locations. If I am heading to Texoma I put in Pottsboro's zip and check the wind there.

Download Weatherbug. You can get current weather for any zip code in the country.

I've heard of weather bug, but I didn't know if it were anymore reliable than weather.com. It sounds as if some of you are satisfied with it so I'll give it a shot.

What I am really looking for is access to live wind readings. For example, if you ever watch a Monday night football game you will see them put a little wind direction and speed arrow on the screen when a field goal is being attempted that shows the actual live conditions. I thought that maybe some of the weather stations through out the state might offer a live wind reading on the Internet off of their wind-measuring instrument.

One of my favorites is www.ntweather.net , you can see by the name the area of focus, but it compiles lots of weather info from different sites and links to them here. Another one I like is www.wunderground.com , it will show hourly details for the day in question, with temps, cloud cover, wind, etc.

If you are looking for CURRENT readings, you might check your local news stations weather nets.

Also check: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ and within that site check the aviation section. http://aviationweather.gov/

Maybe a pilot can decipher. Only goes down to 3000ft but gives 24h wind forcasts.

The WeatherBug is a great tool that provides live readings from all over the country. You need a zip code to get to a general location and then you can select a specific site from there, usually a school or public buidling. Each weather station provides temprature, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, etc. The wind guage shows current reading, average and gust. Forecast are also provided.

Try this - I've found it to be as accurate as anything, plus you can get forecasts for 4 times today and tomorrow: 1 AM, 7 AM, 1 PM,and 7 PM.
