I need help finding a lure knocker that Bill Dance used to sell. It was rubber coated and had a rigid triangle shaped loop on it. Mine was blue in color. It worked very well untill it fell in the lake one day.
I tried the one from BPS that looks kike a fish with chains hanging off of it. I have used it several times and it has never gotten a single crank bait free.

I have not seen one of those in years. The Bill Dance Advantage Lure Retriever is the other one you described and they aren't worth the money, IMO.
I made a plug knocker out of two 3/4 drive deep sockets with some washers inserted for added weight plus an I-bolt to hold it all together. A little nylon twine and a marker bouy to wrap it around. Works great.
Some of the old, small window weights work well, too.

That's the same one I've had for years it was actually designed by David Fritts and it's called the Gripper lure retriever. You might try google either under David Fritts or Gripper. I'm not sure if they are made anymore. Shame as mine has more than paid for itself. I have an old 5500C on a pistol grip handle spooled with heavy nylon twine tied to mine works great.

I spooled mine on a pistol grip and 65 lb braid but my reel is an old omega 1 works pretty darn good.

Get some 2 or 3 oz weights and attach them with some paper clips and slide em down the line. I seen something along this line in the Bassmaster mag and ya have some lure knockers for next to nothing. And if ya lose one your not out much!

And if ya lose one your not out much! Yup, works great. A club buddy showed me that at our club tourney at Amistad last yr. Got me my BRAND NEW swimbait I JUST bought the day before out of a tree in 15 ft. of water!

I have been looking at that one. It works well for you? So far so good. Just make sure you are right on top of the crankbait before you let it go down.
