Generally, what is the best way to set the brakes on a new reel...2 engaged 4 off ?? I know it depends on application, bait sizes, and wind but how do you normally set your rigs.

+1, I usually take them all off or just have 2 in and rely more on my thumb. The Revos have been a dream because of this.

Depends on application, bait sizes, and wind.

I usually start with one and then add one as needed.

i pull the spool out and remove 3 of the 6, and push the remaing 3 ON. after a while they look like they burn on the ends, and i remove them and put the 3 i previously took off- in thier place.

2 on 4 off and adjust from there. Just don't crank the spool brake down to make up the difference, add another if needed. cheers
