I was fishing with a buddy a few weeks back and pulled a NO NO while fishing.
We were in a tournament on Cypress and pulled up to our first spot, I cast out a frog around some reeds and instant Heck Breaks loose. I set the hook and feel like I had a great set on her. I start bringing her in and look back to see my partner is watching and taking it all in.....well at this point I'm confused, I have on a NICE fish probably about 6-7 and he's watching me.
I yell get the net and he fiddles around taking his time, well I get her to the boat and instead of trying to lip her I wait on him trying to get the net,
Well you guessed it, she got second wind jumped and spit the "What I Thought Was A Good Hookset" out.
I have no clue what I was thinking....I made a dumb mistake thinking about what was going on and getting mad at him for taking for what seemed like for ever.
I blocked it out, so I thought, but never could get back into the groove again after that and we struggled.
Have you ever had a Brain Lapse and completely just did something stupid like that in a Tournament, I still can't believe how stupid I was....

yep, last year at the BFL regional, i was in a rush and flipped a fish in the boat with 8lb line, the line broke and the fish went over the boat and back in the water, that fish wasn't big but i would have finished 2nd instead of third if i would have netted it instead, but we live and learn

I have had the same thing happen to me, too. So now if the net man isn`t there when I`m ready to bring the fish in I either lip it, or swing it in the boat. When money is on the line you don`t have time to be waiting because those seconds can cost you dearly. Nothing you can do about it now exept to learn from it.

I was putting fish in the weigh bag on the back deck (boat pulled up to a dock) and let a 16" fish flop out of my hand, onto the deck and back into the water. Finished second, one pound out of first.

my partner and I culled all day long during a club tournament, when we got to weigh in, we only had 4 fish to put in the bag, neither of us had a clue as to what had happened. Still took 3rd, what if?

Tonight fishing the workingman on fork, i have 5 for bout 10-10.5 lbs and decide to fish untill 8:50 with a 9 weigh in. Well it's windy as all get out and I'm on the main lake fishing shallow points with a senko. Well I look down at my 113 and it shows 8:40, I decide bit to risk it and head in, well u guessed it my tm rope snaps! Instead of just gettin the pliers out to move to pin to let it up I decide to retie it in 2-3 ft waves, I finally messed the knot up twice and then decide to pull the pliers off, fet back to the minnow bucket after haulin @@@ at 9:01 . I'm not sure what won and hope it was more than I had....

tried to flip a 4.5-5# fish on a jig a few years ago in a media individual. i banged it against the gunnel and it came off. that fish still haunts me. anothr one that was a big no no was tryin to cross a 4# bed fishes eyes with 8# line and a shakey head.
other then that i feel like i execute very well in tournaments.

Flipped a 3 pounder that bounced of my passenger console into the water. If I had a single console it would have bounced in the boat. It cost me 1300 and the win in a Media event earlier this year. A buddy of mine won so it wasn't too bad, but it still hurt. I should have lipped it.

Same as you OP... I was fishing a tourney on Travis a few weeks back with another TFF'er and at 6:01 with a 6:00 start I lost a 4 or so (wrapped me around a floating dock line) and I couldn't get my head right the rest of the day.
Saved by the Lord... glad to be an Aggie!

Last year fishing an individual tourney i was flipping docks with light spinning gear and im so anxious to make that first cast that i dont dig my net out and hook a 5lber under a dock after a long fight i try to lip her and she comes off of my wacky worm. Being mad at myself and trying to shake my nerves I make the same exact cast and hook up again...I lost them both and couldnt stop thinking about how dumb I was for not learning the first time. messed me up the whole rest of the day.

Measuring a fish on the deck of the boat. The fish started flopping amd into the water he went. It looked like slow motion. From now on I measure them the fish in the lower part between the seats.
