I still get tickled at the amount of people who think that top water baits are for early or late in the day. I dont know how much money I have won throwing TW baits all day long no matter the weather (hot, cold, sunny, raining, or any other condition). I just think its kind of funny to see the sun break over the horizion and 95% of the people lay them down. Or to talk to someone that says "you cant catch TW fish after the sun gets up." What are your thoughts?

Agreed. I have caught fish on topwater all day long on numerous occasions. Nothing more exciting.

Two biggest Bass I ever caught in my life were both on topwater, one on Fork in the middle of a flat calm, blue bird clear day.

I always throw them until the bite totally dies otherwise I stick with em. I caught 10 on topwaters at noon saturday at toledo.

Of course you can catch a topwater fish under just about any conditions, but as a rule they work better early, late and under heavy cloud cover. You can catch them on blue bird days too, but its certinly not ideal conditions.

I�m not saying it works in every situation or that you should go out buy nothing but top waters, but most people put them down to quick IMO. Wind is another situation, I�ve caught untold numbers of fish in 2 to 3 foot rollers on TW. I guess you just have to fish what you have confidence in. And TW's are more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

For who, you or the fish. Just saying.

My best top water day ever came between 1:30 and 3 pm on a hot hot June day. They were nailing my frog almost every cast.
I keep a top water tied on all year round and throw it all the time. If I'm not getting hits on it I'll switch to something else but will throw it off and on all day.

gotta listen to the feeesh... let them tell ya what to do.

i definantly agree with you that people put them down too early, im guilty of this myself alot of times.

Guilty here. I will keep one on the deck just so I can tie it on right quick after fishing it all morning. I never do put it where I can't get to it though.
