I am going off shore on a 40 hr trip to about sixty miles out. What should I buy to troll with on the way out? And how far should I wait before I began to troll? Any experience? Hoping for a Wahoo or King or bill fish.

When and where are you going? I can't be much help because I'm looking for the same information. I live in Benbrook too. I'm headed to POC the first weekend in June. We've been fishing Texoma so far this year. Nothing huge but the numbers are there.

I am going this weekend out of Port A. I am hoping that we will get the information needed. I never fished texoma but look foward to it one day.

blue/white islanders, put 'em in as soon as you clear the jetties
for kings. 'Hoo's are gonna be in deeper water, off the shelf

is the captain aware you are wanting to troll on the way out? i don't think it would be a problem but if you do hook up he is going to have to stop the boat and let you bring it in... i also recommend one of these if you do troll for Hoo!

All the boats I see heading out are usually hauling to much butt to troll.

If the boat is traveling more than 7-9 knots - stay with
the bullet head type lures - if at 7-9 knots - the Lazer
eye will work great . Remember that a Lazer Eye - or fish
body type lure will pull lots of water traction. If over
9knots use some kind of a jet head/bullet type head.
Have fun!

I have had excellent luck with that exact lure. Kings love them!

High speed trolling for 'HOOs can be dne up to about twenty knots..but make sure you got some tiagra 80s rigged on some bend butts.

If it goes slow enough put out a Russell lure.

I agree with the Russell. thumb

Another suggestion - try the Yo-Zuri Hydro-Mags. We used those on an offshore trip with DSE and did real well.

Good luck!
