My wife and I are taking a quick 2 night trip to Galveston just to get away a little. I could use some suggestions for places to eat and drink there ranging from romantic to fun to just hanging out and having a cocktail.

Not sure if it got tore up by the big hurricane or not? Thats a good place but it's fairly expensive. White tablecloth type place. Next door is Casey's. Actually the food comes out of the same kitchen. It's really good food (at both places) but Casey's is a fraction of the price. Gaidos is a good place to stay as well. Large clean rooms and about the cheapest on the island. Nothing fancy but nice and clean. Over looks the beach too. Havent been since the hurricane though. http://www.gaidosofgalveston.comhttp://www.gaidosofgalveston.com/restaraunts.html

Was there in June. There's also: Benno's on the Beach - Casual, good seafood Yamato Japanese - pretty good sushi +1 Casey's If you want to take the ferry, try Steve's Landing in Crystal Beach. Food is great, nice atmosphere (sits on the bay). It was not Ike proof. May want to call to see if they have re-opened.. http://www.steveslanding.com/

If you don't mind driving a little you could try Stingaree, just take the ferry to Bolivar. In the opposite direction, the Redfish Inn in Freeport, or my favorite The Topwater Grill in San Leon. All a fairly short drive from Galveston and better than anything you will find in galveston. In Galveston Gaido's or Clary's, Pricey but good. Gaido's has the best Oysters Rockefeller in the world.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Just got back from a trip this weekend and Stingaree's is by far the best food we had, not impressed with Fish Tales at all good atmosphere frozen sea food. Guidos is open for business didn't make it there.

On the way down. Floyd's at Nasa Rd 1 and I-45.
Pretty good seafood. Shrimp plate with O-rings is about as good as it gets. Probably one of the things I miss most about Clear Lake.
