So I was going to Amistad but because of all the border trouble I have decided to fish my club tourney at Stillhouse next weekend. Only been on the lake one time in my life. Any Stillhouse fisherman out there. Thanks in advance for any help.

hell no, there are a lot of other ways to catch them, drop shotting is a last resort, the crankbait bite is getting better and there is always a jig bite

Stillhouse is the strangest lake I've ever fished. There aren't many typical spawning areas that you would find in a NE Texas lake and the ones that are there don't seem to hold fish. It is the definition of a deepwater lake.

It's been my experience that there isn't a whole lot going on in less than 10-15 feet of water any time of year on Stillhouse. The fish that hold shallower than that aren't big ones in my experience.

I've heard of people hauling big sacks in a foot of water on that lake but have yet to catch bigger than a 3 pounder in less than 15 feet of water.

I'd like to see what some of the pros could do on that lake. I know there are some big fish in there.

I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

Im gonna do what some other guys wont, tell ya where and what i catch em on.1st, if you have a map or a nav chip go to the ISLAND, on the back side "union grove" side not "Dana peak" side . Is standing timber about 12-17 ft of water is a tree with rebar sticking out of it and a old red shop rag tied to it, Large tree with a licence plate nailed to it holds fish.I always use cranks,Tenn.shad Strike KIng has a good one kinda silver and black color with a spot on the sides.Bomber makes one in the fat free shad kind of olive green color that dives 8-12 ft.Of course swim baits, in the AM Zara spooks chrome with the white feathers on the trail hook have also worked for me.The Strike King sexy swimmer in the greenish color(not the one with brown back) gave me a really good fish a couple of weeks ago.Try to hit "Timber Cove" and the point as you go into timbercove is a long bank with standing timber sometimes works well.Hope this helps this usually where i catch fish

most people call that rebar tree and it is one of the biggest community holes in Texas, but it does produce fish, but i would concentrate on main lake points and rock piles
